So Joylynn and I went to the newly married/engaged/serious dating shindig. What a great time!
I think Joylynn and I have the best time when we are together at parties (e.g., Christmas parties). We are like two peas in a pod.
We also learned according to this matrix thing in our marriage class we would be classified as a tv couple. These types of couples may be at risk for having everything look good on the outside but trouble internally. None of the other options in the matrix were much better. I guess the goal was to be at the middle of the matrix. I understood the concept, and thing the results are useful, but not conclusive.
The bottom line is marriage takes work and if either Joylynn or I are being slackers our marriage is going to suffer.
Sometimes I wonder what it was like to be married in the olden days. Before all the research about conflict resolution and communication training. What changed between now and then? Where there still 90% of marriage that were awful? or where marriages better than. I can't imagine God intended for only 10% of marriages to be really good.
